Color Atlas & Synopsis of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Third Edition
While written primarily for clinicians, the Color Atlas & Synopsis of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Third Edition by H. Hunter Handsfield, MD, also can serve as a visual aid in counseling patients and will be useful to many health educators, clinic managers, and health administrators. Additionally, this book also is designed in part for persons with STDs or at risk, many of whom will find it useful in understanding their own infections, assessing their risk, or judging the importance of symptoms that may require clinical assessment.
This third edition includes a significant number of new photographs as well as revised and updated content to include the latest information on epidemiology and treatment. A new chapter reviews the global epidemiology of HIV and AIDS as well as other STDs, and the chapter on HIV and AIDS has been substantially expanded.
Dr. Handsfield is Professor Emeritus of Medicine, University of Washington Center for AIDS and STD, and former director of the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Control Program for Public Health—Seattle & King County, Seattle, Washington. He has been at the forefront of STD research and prevention for four decades and is the 2010 recipient of the American Sexually Transmitted Disease Association’s Distinguished Career Award, the nation’s highest accolade for STD expertise.
